2022 a year of all things floral and fabulous...

What a mammoth year 2022 is lining up to be for us here at York Stage. We're re-mounting productions that were set to be staged two years ago, bringing three premiere titles to the City and to top it all off we are revitalising a classic musical, as we mark the 40th anniversary of it's creation!

We are excited to announce our Grand Opera House shows this year include two more York premiere's with Gary Barlow and Tim Firth's CALENDAR GIRLS THE MUSICAL running in April and the Broadway and West End smash hit KINKY BOOTS following in September.

Following our sunflower filled, Spring production of CALENDAR GIRLS we are continuing with our green-fingered theme as we head into Summer. We are thrilled to be bringing Alan Menken and Howard Ashman's classic musical LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS to the city in a brand new production this July.

We will finish the year in November with our annual youth project that will see talented youngsters from across the region come together to create a full scale musical premiere at the Joseph Rowntree Theatre.

Packed with a vibrant team of characters, an electrifying contemporary sound and explosive choreography, this energy-fuelled journey is everything you could hope for!

Bring it On is produced by York Stage (Matilda the Musical Jr, Elf, Calendar Girls) and is written by Tony Award Winners Lin-Manuel Miranda (Hamilton), Jeff Whitty (Avenue Q), and Tom Kitt (Grease: Live).

Watch out! The most Fantasmagorical musical, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, lands at the  Grand Opera House York this Easter.

One of the world’s favourite musicals, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang is set to have audiences of all ages flying high with its mixture of madness, mayhem and magic!

Can the loveable but whacky inventor, Potts, along with his two children and the gorgeous Truly Scrumptious outwit the bombastic Baron Bomburst who has decreed that all children be banished from his kingdom? What happens when the evil Childcatcher is sent out to capture the children? Will it all end happily-ever-after?

Having broken all box office records in the West End, this fun-filled new production from York Stage, the team that brought you Elf and Shrek the Musical, promises laughs and magic galore – and Chitty herself live on stage!

Keep me in the loop!
